Northern Territory Gold Detecting. Werrego Fossicking.

Northern Territory Gold Detecting.

Werrego Fossicking Fields.

The turn off for Werrego Fossicking fields is 10 kl north of  Tennant Creek.

There was 45 kl of bitumen road to the turn off Werrego Gold Fossicking fields.

There is a Tiny sign pointing to a dirt road. On the left of the turn off there is a gas refinery.

We travelled  ten kl, and came  to this sign.

We found a place to set up camp. People camp anywhere, there is old camp fires all over the area.

We put our large mat out because everything was bull dust, dirty, dirt. It was fun with two dogs, one black and white.

The area was very large, where to start detecting. roads went everywhere.

We detected up hills, in creeks, different places, only found tin and wire.

We spent three days at this camp. Had to leave as our water was running low.

We Never found any gold, we did give it a good go. we were in a area where a grader had gone our the area.

Ended up leaving it as all we were find was thin pieces of tin.

I was waiting to dig if we got a hit. I was looking for pretty stones nothing, not even nice quarts.

So our trip to Werrego Gold Field Fossicking was disappointing.

We spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night there Leaving Saturday Morning.

It was cold at The Werrego Gold Fields.

Our next stop was Powered Site a Dunmarra.

Here there was a services station, and caravan park only. Again lots of Caravans.

Hope you enjoyed this bit of information about a gold fossicking area in Northern Territory.

If you know where I can find gold let me know.

I can not wait to get excited.

Have a great day.

Please leave me a comment.

Holiday in the Northern Territory. with our two dogs. June 2021.

Holiday to the Northern Territory. with our two dogs.

Buster and Chantelle
Dogs on NT Holiday

Caravan holiday.

We love looking for gemstones- rocks, so that was part of our holiday.

We left Mount Isa about 9am. Camooweal  was 182 kl from the Isa.

We bought a bacon and egg burger there, very nice. Of cause we shared it with the dogs.

Next going across the Queensland and Northern Territory boarder.

Covid 19, we had  our paper ,we printed them out, of the internet to go into  the NT, before we left home.

Queensland had no one at the boarder on there side., checking drivers. Bit scary.

Up ahead is the Northern Territory boarder.

To

To travel into the northern territory you had to go on the internet and register when you would be traveling. June 2021.

Pictures above is the boarder. Where you showed your papers to cross.

Buster looking out the window, he was waiting for dad to stop driving.

The roads just keep on going. In the Northern Territory the roads are very good.

Queensland needs to employ the NT road departments, so they can make good roads through out Queensland too.

Next stop is Barkly Homestead, where we  filled the car up here. I never took any pictures.

Here they have a caravan park, and food and bar shop.

Next stop, for our first night,  was Wunara, free camping.

The Caravan with all its batteries and solar panels, makes life a little easy, when camping out.

There is over night parking. Lots of caravans were parked here for the night here.

While we were away, the dogs stayed on there leads all the time. It was very hard to fine green grass to let them play.

Gemstones we found here was Jasper and Ribbonstone and agate.

Travelling along the Barky Highway day two.  We drove to the three ways. Where the Barkly Highway joins the Stuart Highway.

There were lots of Caravans lined up to get fuel. Never seen so many caravans.

Most of the number plates were vic.  They say they head north to get away from the cold.

Alice Springs was not hot, it got down to 2 one morning.

Darwin had nice weather when we were there. We did have the air conditioner on., and it did rain one day.

All the shops had winter clothing out, no summer clothing. So there not much to shop for.

Back to our holiday to Northern Territory.

Next stop was gold detecting at Werrego fossicking.

Have a great day.

Camping Holiday-Gem of a Holiday-no shops.

In Camping Holiday.

Gem of a Holiday. Camping out under the star.

Aussie Campers &Trailers

Lets Go Camping.

What equipment you need.

Going Camping, putting up your tent, or having a camping trailer, Caravan. Your choice.

What a sunset.

Sunset

So Relaxing.

Camping out in the bush with the heat, flies and animals.

Fresh air.

It Is a very relaxing weekend.

When buying a tent it is a good idea to have extra rooms. You can use them for changing room, and a room to store your food. Sometime you have to use a room for eating as the flies  do get bad some times while camping out. The right tent, one that can stand up to all conditions. Buying the right tent.

Oztrail Bungalow (Sleeps 9) Dome Family 9 Person Man Tent

Setting up camp.

You don’t want to take an hour setting up your tent. Your tent Should be easy to set up, then  it will not, take you long to set up camp. and for comfort, you should be  able to open up numerous windows and vents to allow for ventilation. You don’t want bug crawl in your tent.   We are in Australia where it is  home to a lot of dangerous bugs and other creatures, and Animals.

Safety First , and You wont have a problem.

Shade Covers.

Putting up a shade tent/cover is a good idea . When we go camping, you should have a shade cover with a fly screen, so we can eat without the fly’s. Great investment. Shaded dark areas the flies do not like.

Relaxing Holiday

If it is looking for gemstones , fishing or exploring the country side, finding that quite water hole, Just having a BBQ somewhere other than home. (no fires please) Want a wonderful way to enjoy our beautiful country.

A Gem of a Holiday.

Looking for Gemstones while Camping out:  Is allowed in most dedicated fossicking land and  area. You have to get a permit for some areas and that cost money. The camping permit does not authorise you to fossick, you have to also purchase a fossicking licence. One of the best ways to find out more information is to go to  www.qld.gov.au  Make sure you have permission.  All the land in our beautiful country belongs to some one.

Rockhounds

You need a four wheel drive.

We live in Queensland and we have bitumen  roads for main highways. When you head away from the big cities the roads get worst even bad to very bad in some places.  It is a must to have a four wheel drive, And you also need to know how to drive it.  We have no phone coverage once you leave a town, you have GPS navigation.  A must have item is a Navigator Yes our cars have them,  but it is good to have a  hand held  one also, for when you go walk about.  We have a garmin navigator. It tracks you where you go, also show you the way back, is what you need some times.

Garmin GPSMAP 64 Worldwide with High-Sensitivity GPS and GLONASS Receiver

Have A Navigator:

Having a navigator will help you, find your way back safely . Great chance you want get lost.

Example one day we decided to go for a drive at 3pm in the afternoon. We went the quickest way to get there. The road was that rough it took us 2 hours to do 13 kl ( 26miles) The road was that rough I wanted  to get out of the car and walk. We had run out of time it was dark by 6pm, on our way home we decided not to go the same way home, to go a different way. The garmin navigator tracked us out to the main highway. Easy.

Camping out:

You can even take a air conditioner if it is to hot.

Having a battery operator fan is a way to kept cool in the hotter months.

Toilets:

Portable camping toilets are a must have item if you are camping where other people go.. Nothing worst then finding a creek bed full of toilet paper. People used  to dig a big holes for a Camping Toliets.

Think of the animals when camping.

Rubbish:

Rubbish is everywhere, it is where you are going to camp,  is there a rubbish bin.  If you answered, yes ask your self who would come all the way out here to empty a rubbish bin. Stupid Question.  No matter where you camp take all your rubbish with you. Even take more if other people have left rubbish laying around.
